Getting Started

It takes only a few basic interactions with TransiCast UK's map view to find common stops on the map, select a stop point from a common stop, and display next bus times for a selected stop point.

1 Tap a location on the map to find surrounding common stops. TransiCast UK displays up to seven of the nearest common stops. Tap a common stop label to open a list of the stop points of the common stop. This step is omitted if a common stop consists of a single stop point only.

2 Select a stop point from the stop point list.

3 The next bus times are displayed for the selected common stop (Bryfield Road), narrowed down to the selected stop point ((adj) on St James Road / St James End Northhampton (Northants). The details of the selected stop point are displayed at the top of the display.
The next bus times are displayed with route, destination and scheduled time. Tap on a bus time to filter next bus times of an individual route/destination.

Advanced Features

  • Next bus times are displayed in two colours, blue or red. Blue indicates next bus times according to schedule. Red indicates next bus times according to a real-time tracker, based on the location of the bus. The next bus times are automatically refreshed by calling the transit data server. A manual refresh can be requested with the Refresh menu item.

  • Center stops and departures with Center.

  • Activate different Views, such as Google Street View at the selected stop, or the satellite overlay.

  • Save, select and clear Bookmarks.

  • With Search Stops, search for common stops by search text or at the device location. Stop a location based search with Halt Search.

  • Change Settings.

  • Switch the stop label orientation by flicking the device.

London Underground and Docklands Lightrail (DLR)

TransiCast UK includes next train times for London Underground and the Docklands Lightrail (DLR) services.
4 Underground and lightrail stations are labeled with red and blue subway symbols. The departure predictions for London Underground and DLR are estimated based on real-time vehicle locations, and displayed in red colour.

Common Stop and Station Detail

When next buses or departures are displayed in the panel view mode, TransiCast UK displays the stop points of the selected common stop or station with small arrows. Zooming in exposes the selected stop point label or the station entrances. When a stop point or entrance label is tapped, TransiCast UK calls Google Street View at the respective location.
5 illustrates how TransiCast UK displays the location of the stop points of the common stop Heathrow Central Bus Station. The stop point "(Stand 13)… is highlighted with a label that is displayed across the top of the corresponding stop point arrow.

Found a Problem?

If you found a problem, please do not hesitate to contact the app developer. We need specific information in order to be able to determine the cause of a problem, fix TransiCast UK or pass this along to one of our data sources.
Below a few comments we've received (and our response)

  • I'm really disappointed with this app., inaccurate.   Please let us know when and where you found inaccuracies. Remember that departures in blue color a based on schedule, not real-time predictions.

  • Would be better if you could search for a service by route number or place name.   Although route data is not available to drive such a feature, search based on search text is available.

  • Useful already but massive scope here. Responsive dev, send requests and help make this useful app unmissable   Thank you - this is what we are trying to accomplish.
