- Location Tracking using speed and direction. While Location Tracking
in Where I am mode, the device speed and direction of travel are factored into
the center location of stop queries. This improves the selection of upcoming stops.
- More stops. TransiCast now displays up to seven stops on the map view.
- Refresh menu item. The Center menu item has moved
to the View menu. The new Refresh menu refreshes vehicle predictions
and stops.
- Drawing speed improvements. TransiCast now runs even faster.
- Support for Android 2.0 "Eclair". TransiCast 1.4 uses the Android 2.0
"Eclair" SDK, while remaining compatible with Android 1.5 "Cupcake" and Anrdoid 1.6 "Donut".
New in Version 1.3
- Dynamic App Widget. TransiCast's new dynamic App
Widget displays the "top of the heap" approaching vehicle, i.e. the
approaching vehicle that has the earliest reported departure time
at the selected stop. TransiCast automatically refreshes the App
Widget in order to display the most current departure estimates as
reported by the Transit Data Server for the selected stop and
destination filter.
Tip: In order to display the list of availabe App Widgets on
your device, long tap the Home screen, and select "Widgets".
For quick access to TransiCast, just tap the widget.
- Additional transit data
servers available. A selection of transit
data servers is presented when TransiCast v1.3 is started for the first
time. TransiCast can accept data from the following known transit data
servers:
http://developer.trimet.org
http://transicast.appspot.com
http://developer.metro.net
Detail Changes
- Panel View Shadows. Approaching vehicles which
have a follower to the same destination are displayed with a new
"shadow" that indicates multiple vehicles are approaching the stop
for a particular destination. The shadow is not limited to
followers within the Display Horizon.
- Panel view colors. The panel background color
has also been changed to a lighter gray, and the departure colors
have also been lightened up a touch.
- Removed: Single stop auto-selection. This
feature has been removed. In earlier versions, when only a single
stop was found within the 750 meter radius of the selected map view
location, the service query for that single stop started
immediately.
New in Version 1.2
- L.A. Metrorail Beta Demo. This
demonstration of L.A. Metro's real time feed beta includes
the L.A. Metrorail lines: GOLD, BLUE, GREEN, PURPLE and
RED. It is based on schedule data, vehicle locations are
not available, and alarms are also not available. The URL
of L.A. Metro's transit data server is: http://developer.metro.net.
Please enter this URL in the Transit data server settings,
navigate the map to Los Angeles, CA, and tap the map to
query Metrorail stops and vehicle departures.
- Automatic stop tracking. When "Where I
am" is activated while surrounding stops are displayed,
TransiCast automatically queries a new set of stops when
the device has moved 300m or more away from the last device
location. This is useful during travel to automatically
display the stops in the vicinity of the device
location.
